“Happy Days Again”

Second Twenty Plus Five Reunion

Saturday, July 5, 2008 and Sunday, July 6, 2008

 GENERAL INFORMATION

Our reunions have always been about recalling good memories, creating new memories, and renewing friendships and “Happy Days Again” will be no exception. Borrowing features from past reunions plus adding something new and different just for this one, we fully intend to provide a memorable weekend that will be talked about for years to come. However, we can’t do this without YOU so let’s all get together and have a good time.

We are still the only Sherman High School class to have located every actual graduate and many classmates who moved away early, every ’63 classmate is welcome at all our activities regardless of when they lived here or whether they graduated or not. Too many class reunions just invite the classmates that were easy to find, may have been part of the in crowd, etc. so let’s be different and All enjoy our holiday weekend.

OUR HOST MOTEL

LaQuinta is once again the host motel for our reunion, more information can be found on our website www.63bearcats.com or by calling LaQuinta directly at 903-870-1122. We have a special block of rooms reserved for classmates that will need lodging, be sure to mention the SHS-Class of '63 reunion to get special rates. LaQuinta is on the west side of Hwy. 75 just south of the Hwy. 75 & 82 intersection, the highway exit number is very appropriately Exit #63.

COSTS

$45.00 per person – in spite of rising costs; this is keeping in line with previous reunion charges where each dollar charged represents each year since 1963. Those were really our “good old days,” we all remember 25¢ hamburgers and when we could buy a tank of gas for less than $5.00.

OUR WEBSITE

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out www.63bearcats.com. “Roses and Thorns” is the section where you can find up to date news about our classmates, e-mail shs63bearcats@cableone.net if you have something to be added as we are often looking for news. “Then and Now” is a fairly new section, we need your picture if you’re not already on there. Several more sections are on there as well as links to other interesting sites, the website is kept current and updated as often as needed.

MEET & GREET

For those of you that may be arriving early or just want to get a jump start on the activities, a special Friday night "Meet & Greet" holiday event is being planned at this time. Buddy Gray, SHS-Class of '60, is co-owner of a very unique new club/restaurant where this will be. "Loose Wheels Texas" is located near the intersection of Highways 75 & 691 which many of us used to call Perrin Field Road, exact directions will be provided to anyone needing them. Buddy is working on having a special nationally known musician to provide entertainment that evening but details and exact times have not been completed yet for this event, there is a box on the return sheet to check if you would like to be included and notified of more about this event when everything is finalized. Reservations will be required for this event so REMEMBER to let us know if you would like to participate. More about the club/restaurant can be found on the www.loosewheelstexas.com website.

SATURDAY EVENTS

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Perrin Air Force Base Museum – 4575 Airport Drive – this is just one half block northeast of the aircraft control tower in the area that we knew as Perrin Field. Many classmates, especially those that were part of the Perrin families, should enjoy the many memories found here. John Elkins, Ted Nurre (Mike’s dad) and several other area veterans are to be commended for the many hours they have put in on this tribute to our area and our nation’s military. There is a link to the museum on our website.

2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Tour of the Sherman Ex-Students Association’s Museum, this is located in the School Administration Building at 120 W. King, a building you will recognize as our Junior High. Just being in that building brings back many memories.
